MUSINGS FROM A SISTER'S HEART...

Image
Ever found yourself at the point where something happened and you just wished you had listened to the voice within you when it warned you? Sometimes, we need to listen to the voice that tells us subtly to walk away, take the plunge and give it a chance, from the beginning. That precious gift God gave us called guts; that instinctual, deep-seated feeling that subtly gives you the nudge to go ahead or screams "retreat" within you. It's not about being alone, its not about the fear of growing old and grey alone, it's not being afraid of losing money or your investments,  it is not enough to desire a partner's cuddles, kisses, passionate moments and everything beautiful in-between. Life has taught me, like it has most of you, to look beyond these; maybe experience has shown me that these are not just enough. Perhaps, there is more to me and you than rolling on the sheets in ecstasy, making babies, shopping at luxury malls, taking holiday trips and all. It i...

HEY CURVY...GET IN HERE!

Image
If you are plus size, full figured, curvy, get in here! This post is for you 😄😊.  I know that sometimes picking out clothes while shopping, putting together the pieces you have available that will give you that smart, lush look as you step out, can be quite a challenge. So here, I have put together a few tips that could help. Colours:   Once you are plus sized, you may need to be a bit careful with colours, try to pick colours that would enhance your complexion, some coloured clothes  depending on how it is tailored could bring too much attention to the some of the bulges you may want to keep a bit tucked in 😉😉😉. I would recommend darker shades like brown, maroon, black, deep purple etc. If you choose bright colours, then make it patterned, floral ones. Then again, Once in a while, it's OK to be bold and look different with bright coloured pieces such as pants, blazers or dresses.  Fabrics:  Being a full figured lady myself, I h...

MUSINGS OF A BURNING HEART

Image
That moment ,when I am tempted to feel that perhaps I was not good enough for you, that I am inadequate, and don't deserve you, that moment when I feel the pressure of the need to prove my worth to you; I pause, sit back and remind myself who I  really am; a jewel waiting to be purchased from the master craftsman, masterpiece of my Sculptor, worth being treasured. I remind myself that I have invaluable substance, and I am a blessing to any one blessed enough with the gift of me, full of beautiful flaws, beautiful, loved you like my life depended on you. I am an asset you just lost. I remind myself that I am capable of receiving and giving the kind of love you read about in fairy tales or watch on telenovelas, the very kind you have secretly yearned, hoped for, in your heart. Perhaps it isn't me, I was too good for you and you couldn't handle it, maybe you are yet unwilling to learn to accept this magnitude of affection, or could it be that you are not mature enough...

FRANKLY SPEAKING...

Image
If you are African and especially Nigerian, thirty-something and above years old and single, divorced separated or whatever you call it as long as you don't have a ring on it, you will better relate to this. Quite often, I have had men, ladies tell me how beautiful I am and all that, some try to spice it with a pint of insult by saying, you are just too pretty for your size (like plus size people were all doomed to be ugly); I post a picture of me  (decent pictures) on Facebook, Instagram, twitter and in minutes, so many likes, love, wow , beautiful, exhilarating comments pop up and you could be tempted to feel like a Miss World at those moments. Messages popping up in the inboxes, DMs and men trying to flirt just because for whatever reason, their lust or whatever it is they feel is awakened by the pictures posted. Fonny Michael So, recently I ran into an ex who exclaimed "wow you look hot... you are a wonderful person Fonny...", In micro seconds , in my head I...

DREAM DREAM AND DREAM AGAIN

Image
It's a Saturday morning, and I am lying on my bed, sort of home -sick because I miss my folks; I haven't seen my Dad and siblings in over a year and we all live in this same country;Nigeria. Lots of memories flood in and for a moment, I loosened up and enjoyed basking in nostalgia. And then it re-occurred to me!  Fonny Michael We all have had dreams, from our childhood dreams, to life -inspired dreams and so on. A wise man once said that; once you stop dreaming, you start dying. I remember all the times my siblings, other kids in the compound and I would play "House" and I always wanted to either be the musician or the cook/Mom of the "house" Lol. So, it re-occurred to me again today that I am living my dreams as a recording artiste and a proud chef and CEO of Fonny's Fresh Pots ; a new business I recently started.

MEMOIRS OF A SCORNED LOVE- FINAL PART

Image
Days turned into weeks , weeks into months, and the months went by really fast, Christmas was a beautiful one for her, she got to visit her parents and siblings, it was so tranquil there, she got the kind of love and care she had missed so much the whole year, the local masquerade parades on new year day, the burning of tyres and the fireworks all added to the magic. She cried when she left her parents’ home back to Abuja. Picture of Nigerian masquerades  The episodes of violence, verbal abuses, psychological abuses and all the attendant drama  continued but she endured, she had gotten to a point where she didn't care what he did anymore, who he had an affair with, where he spent the night he did not sleep at home. All that mattered to her was her peace of mind and her desire to give birth to a baby, she longed to have her own child “I have to have something to show for all these years of torture” she thought, hoped and prayed every so often, the gynecologist had assu...

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

If you have to text, call or like his/her post on a social network just to remind someone you are in love with that you still exist, then they are PROBABLY not for you. Love yourself enough to understand that nothing and no one is too good for you. You deserve the very best!
