TAKE A BREATHER, WILL YOU?

Image
It's a casual Tuesday for me Guys, no thanks to my drycleaner 😩😳😞😞 So,  as I was trying to come up with a simple, casual ensemble to wear out this morning, my house keeper walks into my room with my wig all brushed up nicely and handed it over to me, she saw the look of despair on my face as she handed it to me,  and quietly dropped the wig on my dressing table. I told her after dressing up, that I do not want any wigs, extensions or attachments on my hair for a few days , at least until the coming week, "let my hair and scalp breathe",  I said. Sometimes in life, we get to face disappointments, failures or some quite unpleasant situations and try to do all we can to cover for them or at least pretend like they didn't happen or we didn't go through them, and sometimes, we get so worked up over them that we loose our inner peace, sleep and the zest for our passion, dreams, or even life itself. Challenges come, but great times also come too. ...

SILENT CRIES OF THE HEART

Image
How my heart beats at the thought of you... I awake again to another day, I turned to look on the other side of the bed and you are not there and then I remembered, it was was all just a beautiful dream. But, how can I make you see me, how can I make you see the intensity of what I feel for you, how can you not see that I am willing to walk away from everything else just to be able to watch the sun rise and set with you, how can you not want this passion, this love, this longing that is right in your face? I try to be the good girl my African society and culture expects me to be; seeing you,  being with you, thinking about you and yet pretending to be in denial of that which fills me and ignites a fire that only you can put out. Every time my phone beeps, I rush to it, silently wishing  in my heart that it would be you, texting or calling just to let me hear the sound of your voice.  I am even worried that you may have become my primary obsession. My friend...

HUGS FOR LIFE

Image
July is here and we are loving it already... Happy New Month Everyone and welcome to a new week. Over the weekend, I was chatting with a very dear friend and in the course of our conversation,  he said, curvy girls give the best hugs. what do you think? Did you know that hugging (and also laughter) is very effective at healing sickness, loneliness, depression, anxiety and stress? Let me tell you a quick story. This one time, I worked in an organization where I thought my boss didn't like me, half the time, it felt like I was walking on egg shells while at work and I dreaded the moments she would scold me over things I did wrong or expectations I didn't meet. At some point, I went through a deeply hurting, personal emotional phase and she found out about it. The following morning, she called me to her office, I was already wondering what I did wrong and was preparing my mind for an early morning round of scolding. She got up from her seat as I walked into her of...

IT'S WEEKEND ALREADY?

Image
It's Friday and look, the weekend is here ...whew!!! All over the world and here in my beautiful country Nigeria, It's about to go down (if you know what I mean 😉😉😊😊). You all know that here in Nigeria, we sure know how to have fun 😉😉 and create a great weekend for ourselves. But first, I hope you had a great week,so you can have more reasons to enjoy the weekend. This weekend, stay with the right friends, not the ones who'll lead you astray. There are consequences for every action whether we did them in ignorance or not.  That homeless man on your street,  close to your home, should smile because you did the least thing like asking how he is doing. That poor lady, who sells in a kiosk just down the block from your house should have her face lit up in a broad smile because you stopped to patronize her and even add a tip for her, these ones sell to survive, trust me. Kindness is easy, be generous with it. Look out for friends and family, show them ...

YOU HAPPENED TO ME

Image
5:50 a.m... I woke up this morning, turned to look at your face; peaceful, rested, far away in dreamland but right here with me, soft snores and some heavy breathing in between, reminding me of our most intensely passionate moments. I pulled the duvet over your chest, admiring every bit of you as I do, snuggling up to your warm embrace, thankful for the gift of you and the love you so generously show me.  How did we even evolve into this? How did you help me conquer my insecurities? At what point did you help me realize that I could be my own woman , be free to disagree over an issue without being battered, be free to throw tantrums and not worry about losing you in the process, be free to express my naughty fantasies with you without being judged... How do you even make me smile endlessly and laugh with careless abandon without a tickle from you? I love how you excite me, excite my mind, challenge me in the best of ways.  I am amazed at how you believe in me ...

FOR THE LOVE OF YOU

We made it to another great week 👏👏👏😊 and oh! Happy Happy Eid holiday to all my Muslim readers around the world, I got my share of the Sallah fried, spicy rice and chicken from my neighbour yesterday..yummy! Let me jump-start your week with some curvy candy. Got a few style ideas for the new week that I thought was worth sharing. Remember the popular saying "Dress as you want to be addressed"? This week is the time to get all dressed up, dolled up and go chase your dreams, Hun, so dress for it.  Plan your week, pick out your clothes for the week and get them ready, you are about to slay, so you might as well have fun with it. No one in their right minds will ignore a well dressed woman or man 😃😃😃 Try to be early to all your appointments this week. I used to be a perpetual late comer at a point while I was working with a bank, and amazingly, my home was just 10 minutes drive to the bank but I was just in the habit of waking up so late, taking my t...

MUSINGS FROM A SISTER'S HEART...

Image
Ever found yourself at the point where something happened and you just wished you had listened to the voice within you when it warned you? Sometimes, we need to listen to the voice that tells us subtly to walk away, take the plunge and give it a chance, from the beginning. That precious gift God gave us called guts; that instinctual, deep-seated feeling that subtly gives you the nudge to go ahead or screams "retreat" within you. It's not about being alone, its not about the fear of growing old and grey alone, it's not being afraid of losing money or your investments,  it is not enough to desire a partner's cuddles, kisses, passionate moments and everything beautiful in-between. Life has taught me, like it has most of you, to look beyond these; maybe experience has shown me that these are not just enough. Perhaps, there is more to me and you than rolling on the sheets in ecstasy, making babies, shopping at luxury malls, taking holiday trips and all. It i...
