THE THING ABOUT SELF-ESTEEM

Eleanor Roosevelt said, "No one can make you feel inferior without your permission", how true! It is very important that we maintain a high self-esteem if we want to make reasonable progress in  our lives. You may ask, What exactly is self-esteem? Self esteem simply put is how you feel about yourself, how confident you are and how much you believe in your abilities.  Whether we have a high or low self-esteem reflects in everything we do, from our jobs, academics, approach to life issue and even to our relationships. A high self-esteem is the key to good mental, physical and spiritual strength. Imagine walking into a job interview room with  low self-esteem written all over you, that is a guarantee for failure. Building a high self-esteem is a process especially if there were issues or circumstances in your childhood that made you grow up with the wrong perception and beliefs on who you are and what you can achieve in life. Below are a few tips to help you develop a ...

FASHION TIPS FOR CURVY GIRLS

Image
In case you don't know yet, size 10 is the new size 6. Being curvy is OK but you need to wear the right stuff and understand that not all latest fashion trends are suitable for curvy girls. We create our own unique style and baby we look hot in it! For my curvy ladies, here are a few tips that could help. Wear dresses that accentuate your best features. You do not want the stomach area to make you look like you are pregnant when you are not . Chose your fabrics carefully, stretch fabric is a good option. Do not hide yourself under a shapeless gown or big skirts. Avoid too many drapes , layers or ruffles on your dresses. Keep it simple, classy and chic. Make Up: Be bold with your make up but make sure you use the right colors, blending colors are still very trendy and gloss really works for pretty curvy girls. Your mascara, blush, red lipsticks should always be close to you (in your bag always if possible). Your Hair: Your hair speaks volumes about you, Keep ...

FIVE WARNING SIGNS OF AN ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIP

I received some messages from some readers on my last post (The devil called domestic violence) requesting to know exactly how to identify a potentially abusive relationship and I am glad to share a few tips with you and hope all the people who asked will get to read this. There is no signage on the face of an abuser to let you know that he is dangerous and that you are in or about to go into an abusive relationship but here are a few warning signs that scream "get out while you still can!" They are: Disrespectful: If he disrespects his mother, sisters, female colleagues and bosses, it is only a matter of time, he will definitely start disrespecting you and yours will be worse. Check if his mother and sisters are scared of talking to him or the females around him are afraid of him. Respect is different from fear. If he exhibits attitudes that show that he does not believe a woman can say anything smart or intelligent, then girlfriend, you need to run as fast as your legs...

THE DEVIL CALLED DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

1 in every 20 women has experienced domestic violence in her relationship with a boyfriend, husband or family members and 1 in every 10 women have relatives or friends who are presently in abusive relationships. Every two hours, a woman, girl,  child is being  assaulted or  beaten or coersed into doing something she does not want to do and if they attempt to fight back or rebuff, they may end up being killed,  maimed, disfigured and terribly traumatised. It is sad that this menace is on the increase inspite of the efforts of the governmments of the world, law enforcement agencies, and organisations who strive to ensure that this very serious challenge is greatly reduced. Domestic violence can happen to anyone so while you are cnsidering starting up a relationship with a guy, you may have to pay attention to the signs he exhibits especially during your initial dates and the first few weeks of your relationship.  An abusive man is not going to scream out "He...
